Focus on how the Ecobios protocol works
In 2020, Covid 19 has raised ecological awareness. The absence of residues has become an obligation demanded by consumers. The activation of carbon nutrition throughout the vegetative cycle proposed by the Ecobios protocol makes it possible to achieve this objective through 2 major axes:
– Cleaning up the organic matter (OM) that harbours the disease
The Ecobios protocol conveys more carbon molecules to the root system in order to encourage interactions and promote the development of bacterial biodiversity and the installation of mycorrhizae. This positive feeding of the soil with substances chosen by the plant genome will radically transform it by synthesising biological factors that lower the level of pathogens. The Elisol laboratory has analysed and demonstrated that the use of Ecobios enables the structure of the soil to be modified after 2 years of use. Ecobios soils are classified as “suppressive”, i.e. fungal and bacterial diseases, generally stored in the organic matter of the soil, will be inhibited or limited in their incidence.
– Using phenolic fields to inhibit the action of pathogens
Thanks to its specific action on photosynthesis, the Ecobios protocol can be used to increase carbon compounds and secondary metabolites. The increased content of lipids, tannins, anthocyanins, polyphenols including stilbenes (resveratrol…), contributes to the resistance of treated tissues to cryptogamic diseases. The abundance of fatty acids can modify the pH of the cell wall and improve the fungistatic efficiency of phenols. This effect, added to the increase in the thickness of the grape berry skins, which is already effective as a mechanical barrier to botrytis penetration, helps to explain the observations of resistance to other diseases.
The Ecobios protocol is based on the activation of carbon nutrition throughout the vegetative cycle, by carrying out a post-harvest treatment, then as soon as budburst, before and at the end of flowering, as well as during fruit set/cluster closure.
In addition to its positive effect on the quality of the grapes, musts and wine, the use of Lipoxyline enables the winegrower to comply with the Ecophyto plan, the HVE label and to limit production costs.
